F-150 Lightning range with a trailer
A trailer adds weight, but at highway speed the bigger cost is aerodynamic drag from its flat front. A low, light utility or boat trailer costs less range than a tall travel trailer. Published tests of electric trucks towing campers commonly land between 40% and 60% of rated range, which is the band below.
| Version | Rated | Light trailer (60%) | Typical (50%) | Heavy or tall (40%) | Typical at 0°C |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Extended Range (131 kWh) | 515 km | 309 km | 258 km | 206 km | 224 km |
| Extended Range (123 kWh) | 483 km | 290 km | 242 km | 193 km | 210 km |
| Platinum | 483 km | 290 km | 242 km | 193 km | 210 km |
| Standard Range | 386 km | 232 km | 193 km | 154 km | 168 km |
Plan charging stops around the heavy-trailer column for camping trips, and check that chargers on your route have pull-through stalls, or plan to unhitch.
